The 22nd AGM for Nine Hole Golf was held this week, with outgoing Convenor Carolyn Osborne sharing several achievements of the group in her end of year report. These included Walton Nine Hole members winning the Interclub Trophy, Best Gross Trophy at Waikato Foursomes, and numerous individual prize-winners at Regional Tournament. Club members were thanked for their contribution, participation and aroha which has led to the camaraderie and enthusiasm .evident amongst this golfing fraternity. The new Convenor for 2021 will be Trish Baigent and Vice-Convenor Hannah Sutherland. They will be well supported by a strong team of experienced colleagues. Opening day next year will be on Monday 15 February. This will be a fun day of Ambrose golf for 9 and 18 Hole women golfers, along with prospective new members (previous and new golfers) encouraged to participate and to find out about Walton Golf Club. In tournaments this past week, several members were once again flying the Walton flag on the winner’s podium. At the carefully manicured course of Mt Maunganui in Divisiob One Fiona Pickett won 5th Stableford, Ivy Radcliffe won 6th Stableford and Rachel Looijen won Longest Drive. Overnight thunderstorms threatened to call off the Cambridge Tournament, but by the time it was tee off the clouds gave way to a smattering of sunshine. There were many high scores and low stablefords as players struggled with the long rough and undulating fairways. In Division One Fiona Pickett won 4th Stableford, Carolyn Osborne won 12th Stableford. In Division Two Leanne Wright won 13th Stableford.
